About Super Bowl 2024 live updates of Chiefs vs. 49ers

The outcome of the Super Bowl will be determined in overtime for just the second time in NFL history. When the Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, they want to make history by becoming the first team to win the Super Bowl twice in as many years. After a back-and-forth game, regulation ended with a draw between the two teams at 19.

Kicker Jake Moody’s 55-yard field goal early in the second quarter gave the Niners the lead and momentarily broke the record for the longest field goal in Super Bowl history.

They used a double-pass trick play to extend their advantage to 10-0. With less than five minutes remaining in the second half of play. Pitcher Brock Purdy of the Niners pitched the

ball back to wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who passed it to Christian McCaffrey, who raced 21 yards for the touchdown, across the field.

After Antwaan Randle El’s 2006 Super Bowl touchdown pass to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who defeated the Seattle Seahawks, in Super Bowl XL, Jennings became the first wide receiver to do so.

Before the half, Harrison Butker’s 28-yard field goal gave the Chiefs their first point of the game. But Mahomes was confused by the Niners defense. After the break, he emerged and promptly found rookie safety Ji’Ayir Brown for an interception. This was Mahomes’ first pick in his previous 218 playoff throw attempts, halting the third-longest such run in NFL history.

Ray-Ray McCloud, the Niners’ returner, fumbled a punt with less than three minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Chiefs recovered, and the very next play, Mahomes found Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a 16-yard touchdown throw, giving the Chiefs a 13-10 lead.

Early in the fourth quarter, Purdy and Jennings connected for a six-yard score as the Niners responded. However, Moody failed to make the extra point, giving the Niners a narrow 16–13 advantage.

With less than six minutes remaining, Butker’s 24-yard field goal knotted the game at 16.

With less than two minutes remaining, Moody made up for his earlier miss by sinking a 53-yard field goal to give the Niners a 19-16 lead.

With three seconds remaining, Mahomes led the Chiefs down the field and, as he has so often done before, set up a 29-yard game-tying field goal to send the game into overtime.

The only previous Super Bowl to go into overtime occurred during Super Bowl LI in 2017, as the New England Patriots, led by Tom Brady, overcame a 28-3 deficit to overcome the Atlanta Falcons 34-28.

The 2020 Chiefs, led by standout quarterback Patrick Mahomes, defeated the Niners 31–20 to win Kansas City’s first Super Bowl in fifty years. Super Bowl LVIII is a replay of that game. During Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, a 30-second commercial supporting the independent candidate’s presidential candidacy was shown by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s super PAC, American Values 2024.

The 70-year-old politician was featured in the advertisement wearing a vintage-styled outfit, and it featured jingles, clips, and slogans that paid homage to his uncle, the late President John F. Kennedy.

Tony Lyons, one of the co-founders of Super PAC, told CBS News that the Super Bowl commercial cost $7 million.

“The terrified DC elites are putting in extra effort to prevent Kennedy from winning the presidency because they are aware that he has the ability to eradicate their avaricious and

corruption. They promise us unending conflict, skyrocketing inflation, and chronic illness,” Lyons stated in a statement sent to CBS News.

Kennedy is currently only officially eligible to vote in Utah. He reached the required number of signatures on January 23, according to the campaign, but documentation is still pending.

Kennedy’s campaign and super PAC are accused by the Democratic National Committee of conspiring to place Kennedy on the ballot in an FEC document that was submitted on Friday.

Kennedy is fighting corruption, much like his father and uncle, so it seems sense that the DNC is attempting every old tactic and coming up with new ones to thwart him. The people is aware of it all and will not put up with it, Lyons declared on Sunday.

The late former senator Ted Kennedy’s speechwriter and advisor Robert Shrum said on social media that “this RFK Jr. Super Bowl ad is a straight out plagiarism of JFK ad from 1960.” What a swindle—and, to paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen with a small modification, “Bobby, you’re no John Kennedy.” Rather, you are an ally of Trump.”

Chiefs’ Harrison Butker breaks Moody’s brief record with 57-yard field goal

It was only temporary, as Harrison Butker broke Moody’s record halfway through the third quarter, nailing his own 57-yard field goal to trim the Niners’ advantage to 10-6.
