COME WITH ME TO LAKE WORTH
The Atlantic Invitational, held at the Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth, Florida, will see the return of the Bobcats as competitors.
In February of last year, QU placed tenth out of twelve teams.
Quinnipiac’s best finish came in a tie for 16th place between Kaylee Sakoda and Leeyen Peralta.
RETURNING TO ACTION
The Bobcats make their first appearance of the spring season since they finished their play at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, the last time we saw them.
Fuge Zhang, the MAAC Golfer of the Year, and the other seven players of Quinnipiac’s squad that progressed to the NCAA Regionals and won the MAAC Championship last year are back.
The Quinnipiac Classic and the Hartford One Day Invitational were the two autumn tournaments that the Bobcats won.
Both the Quinnipiac Classic and the Red Bandanna Invitational were won by Leeyen Peralta.
Aimee Uchida became victorious at the Hartford One Day Invitational, topping the leaderboards as well.
TALKABLE LEEYEN
In the spring of 2024, Leeyen Peralta returns for her fifth year.
In the fall part of the program, Peralta became victorious in the Quinnipiac Classic and the Red Bandana Invitational.
She averaged 74.52 strokes per round while competing in 11 different tournaments.
Her round average of 74.52 strokes is a program record.
Throughout the season, Peralta received six top-10 and five top-five placements.
She established the program record and finished the season with a team-high 68 birdies.
Her eleven rounds of par or better equaled the record for the program.
Peralta was named to the All-MAAC team for the third consecutive year.
She shot a 216 (E) in the MAAC Championships, her best three-round score to date.
FUGE FLEXING
In 2023–2024, Fuge Zhang will be back for her junior season.
She averaged 77.19 strokes per round while competing in 12 competitions last season.
After Zhang won the MAAC Championship, she was awarded MAAC Golfer of the Year.
In 2022, she shot a career-best 214 (-2) in the MAAC Championship.
Her three-round record in the MAAC Championship, 214 (-2) is still the best in the tournament’s history.
Zhang finished in the top five three times and four times in the top 10.
Zhang was named All-MAAC for the second consecutive year.
